THRACE-CONNECT. Unraveling Connections between Aegean and inland Thrace via the Rhodope mountains, through archaeological exploration and spatial technology
The THRACE-CONNECT project aims to investigate, within the field of classical archaeology, the historical connections between Aegean Thrace and inland Thrace through the Rhodope mountains. Covering the period from the Archaic to the Imperial era, it adopts an interdisciplinary approach that integrates the study of topography, landscape, archaeological material, and architectural remains. The project aims to reconstruct the communication networks regarding travel, trade, and cultural exchange that facilitated interaction between these two regions. Through the application of advanced spatial technologies and visualization methods, it seeks to shed light on the dynamics of these ancient interconnections and their significance for the cultural and economic development of Aegean Thrace.
