On August 28, 2026, Dr. Vasilis Evangelidis presented the THRACE-CONNECT project, in a lecture entitled “Beyond Marginality: Landscape Archaeology of the Rhodope Mountains in the Balkan Context”, within the framework of the EAA 2026 conference and specifically in Session 69 – Interaction, Connectivity & Mobility in the Balkans. Based on the preliminary results of the project, the presentation set as its main goal to highlight how landscape archaeology can overcome narratives of marginalization and reveal the dynamic role of mountain environments in shaping human-environment interactions throughout the Thrace region.
